MEMORIAL GARDEN
This was a very special project: a garen dedicated to the memory of a much loved teacher within the grounds of the school.
It was clear to me that water, as a metaphor for life, continuity and hope, needed to play a significant role in this garden. However, open water, in a school setting, can be hazardous!
The large symbolic rock was drilled vertically to allow water from a small subsurface reservoir to trickle over its faces and to be constantly reticulated. pebble work in the surrounding concrete paving serves as a metaphor for water.
