About
Gardenscape Design is a successful and respected Melbourne landscape design studio in Melbourne, established in 1998 by garden designer Sandra McMahon, after she graduated as an award-winning student from Burnley Horticultural College.
Work undertaken ranges through courtyard garden design, to traditional European formal garden design, native Australian garden design, and Japanese garden design. Larger landscape design is also undertaken in regional areas.
Sandra is at heart a plantswoman, and has a very broad knowledge of plants and a deep understanding of their requirements. She lectures regularly on Planting Design at the University of Melbourne's Burnley Campus, both in the Masters of Landscape Architecture course and in the horticultural courses.
Planting design to suit the complexities of a site and the subtleties of a client's taste is a specialty of this business.
Hard landscaping design in natural materials such as stone, pebble, timber and metal is also an important aspect of the business.
Sandra's work has been featured on television both in Australia and Japan, and in numerous areas of print media.
Her gardens have been opened as part of Australia's Open Garden Scheme, Open Gardens Victoria, and in the biennial Garden Designfest since its inception in 2004.
The business operates out of Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs, encompassing areas from Ivanhoe to Hawthorn, Camberwell, Kew, Canterbury, Armadale, Malvern, Essendon, and everywhere in between.
Larger-scale country landscape design work is regularly undertaken.
